Not Dead…

4 10 2008

To my readers:

Know that I love and appreciate your interest in my mammalian habits and I apologize (a wee bit) for having not written in this blog for almost 4 months now. After reading the last few posts of mine, I realize that it could come across that I died at Four Quarters, which I did not. (Well, not physically at least — death is a great metaphor for some of the internal changes I went through there).

All in all, I’d lost a lot of the reason why I’d started this blog in the first place, went through some existential crises scenarios, and had to take a good long look at the how I see myself vs. how I want others to perceive me. All good introspections in the long run and I’m eager to return to this part-dialogue / part-diary / part-cheap therapy that this blog has an even greater potential to be now.

I think I’d like to start with a memorializing of two phenomenal individuals who have passed on since the last time I posted:

Paula Gunn Allen lived on Earth as a poet, novelist, and critic who furthered the research surrounding the roles of female-bodied people in American Indian tribes. She also made great strides in furthering the visibility of third- and fourth-gendered (Two-Spirit) female-bodied persons in those tribes as well.

I honor Paula.

Queer activist John Burnside, Harry Hay’s partner for almost 40 years, lived on earth as one of the founders of the Radical Faeries.

I honor John.

Till next post…

The Leap

18 12 2007

CentaurAnd so I begin. This blog is intended to be an online presence for an eclectic magickal voice while giving glimpses into the life and inner workings of a young queer man making sense of the world for himself. The melding of the spiritual / magickal and the mundane worlds can be intimidating terrain in a world adverse to such ideas as subjective truth, otherkin, healthy self-esteem, and personal time for reflection. In addition to this being a tool I intend to use for sharing wisdom and techniques found and drummed up, it will serve as a good motivator for me to continue, and hopefully even deepen, my own practices.

So…now I have to begin. I guess the best way is just jump in. Check back soon for my first full-length posting. In the meantime, I praise Ganesha, Remover of Obstacles and whom I’ve heard should be worshiped when beginning anything new. And I’ll start off with this quote which I come back to time and time again in my own life, this time being no different.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. - Confucius
